Overview

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2002 with the goal of rendering innovative education to the learning aspirers. Department of Biotechnology offers UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D programs. Since its inception, the Department has contributed a lot in terms of teaching, learning and research. We have a team of faculties who contributes much to the development of the potentials of students. Department enhances the knowledge base of students and creates research curiosity among students generating highly skilled human resource. The autonomy brings into force industry and research oriented syllabus and hour based curriculum helps the students to excel their knowledge towards innovate, incubate ideas and nurture the needs of society. The Department is approved and recognized as DBT STAR College Scheme since 2018, which also stimulates research interest as a team from under graduate level. With the support of the Management, DST-FIST and DBT STAR College Scheme, we equipped the research labs with modern equipments and infrastructures which kindle research interests among budding Biotechnologists.

Programme Educational Objectives

The curriculum is designed to attain the following learning goals which students shall accomplish by the time of their graduation:

  • The curriculum is designed to enable the students to demonstrate a substantial understanding of concepts in key areas of Biotechnology and its applications.
  • Offer the students a thorough understanding and appreciation on basic principles of biotechnology
  • To supplement the academic input of students by way of seminars, conferences, guest lectures and industrial visits
  • To describe the common methods and applications of biotechnology with regard to micro organisms, plants, animals and pharmaceutical industries.

On the successful completion of the program, the following are the expected outcomes.

Programme Educational Objectives

  • This program will enable students to acquire knowledge on the fundamentals of Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
  • It helps students to understand emerging and advanced concept in modern biology and guide them to take up their carrier in this field.
  • This program will facilitate the students to acquire knowledge in fields such as Genetic Engineering, Protein Engineering and Molecular Therapeutics.
  • The program will aid the students to learn the recent developments in the field of Genomics, Proteomics, Stem Cell Biology and Tissue Engineering approach.
