Dr.N.G.P. Arts and Science College (Dr. NGPASC) is an organization of Dr.N.G.P. Research and Educational Trust (Formerly Kovai Medical Center Research and Educational Trust) was established in the academic year 1997-98 under the leadership of Dr. Nalla G.Palaniswami as Chairman and Dr.Thavamani D.Palaniswami as Secretary. It is a co-educational self financing autonomous institution, affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The College began its educational journey with 4 Under Graduate programmes, now it is emerging as the one of the top self-financing colleges in Tamil Nadu.
The institution is recognized under 2(f) & 12(B) and conferred autonomous status during the academic year 2015-16 by University Grants Commission, New Delhi and is accredited with A++ Grade (3rd Cycle) by NAAC. Four of our science departments are recognized under DBT-STAR Scheme. MHRD’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) was established to cater for the innovation and undergraduate research among students. In addition, Dr. NGPASC is recognized as a member of National Rural Entrepreneurship Mission by Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India and Scientific and Industrial Research Organisations (SIROs) by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, DST, Government of India.
The institution exhibits steadfast achievement in National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of MoE by securing 88th, 59th, 85th, 67th, 91st and 44th rank respectively in 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017. The ARIIA ranking of the institution is Performer Band, Band B and within Top 100 institutions respectively in 2021, 2020 and 2019. The MoE’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) granted 3.5 Star and 3 Star rating respectively for the year 2020 and 2019. Two Centers for Excellence namely Center for Internet of Things (IoT) and Centre for Regional Languages are established to impart specialized skills to the students’ community.
The college, at present offers 31 UG, 17 PG and 25 Research (M.Phil. & Ph.D.) Programmes, 04 PG Diploma, 7 Diploma and 58 Value Added Courses under 32 well established departments through six variant faculties. Our college has an intellectual capital of more than 360+ academically well experienced teaching fraternity amongst 200+ faculty members are doctorates and they cater to the needs of 7500 students on roll.
The Institution has been granted funds to undertake major and minor research projects, and conduct seminars, conferences and workshops by various funding agencies like UGC, DRDO, ICMR, ICSSR, CSIR, DST, DBT and TNSCST. The College exercises 43 Best Practices to aggrandize the holistic development of the students. Through these practices students have been given space for enhancing employability skills, research culture, and entrepreneurship attitude.
The Training and Placement Cell of the college functions effectively in providing various placement oriented training, value added programmes, company specific training to make them employable in the top MNCs. Every year, more than 90% placement opportunities are achieved. Apart from the placement cell, the Career Guidance Cell, Entrepreneurship Development Cell play vital role in fulfilling needs of the student community. The Management provides scholarships every year to 100s of meritorious students for academic excellence and sports achievements. The College firmly believes that the blend of discipline and education will curve niche for students to enter competitive world and to procure wisdom of knowledge.
Dr.Nalla G. Palaniswami is a Doctor, Educationalist and Philanthropist. He did MBBS and MD in Stanley Medical College, Madras and served as Lecturer and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Coimbatore Medical College in the year 1973 – 1975. He went to USA in the year 1975 for his higher studies and completed higher training in Internal Medicine at Cincinnati, Ohio and Wayne State University at Detroit, Michigan in the year 1975 – 1978. Did fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in the year 1983 – 1985. Between 1978 and 1983 worked as internist at St.Joseph Hospital, Mt.Clements, Michigan, U.S.A. 1985 – 1990 Staff, Hypertension, Obesity and Risk factor, department of Wayne State University at Detroit, Michigan. Conceived the idea of establishing a hospital comparable to American Hospital in India, He worked on the project of Kovai Medical Center and Hospital at Coimbatore in the year 1985 onwards. Joined along with N.R.I.'s from USA, UK, Australia, Middle East and people from India, he established KMCH and it started functioning from June 24, 1990. Since then KMCH is serving the community with dedication and commitment. Started with 200 beds and it has emerged as 1000 bedded multidisciplinary Super Specialty Hospital.
Apart from the Health Care and Educational Activities, he is carrying out many community services to the rural and needy people. As a part of his service, the KMCH has set up 6 community rural and women centers to serve the poor and needy with association of Rotary clubs, St. John service organizations, KMCH has established trauma and First aid center at Kunnathur, Coimbatore district, Palla Goundanpalayam, Perundurai and Erode. While in USA, as a Director of Tamilnadu Foundation, started the Rural Health and sanitation program for Tamilnadu. Established a model sanitary program at Naduvalasu – Nallampatti village in Erode District. To train the villagers to familiar with sanitation habit, established model latrines and model education program to use foot wares and educating clean habits among the villagers. He has donated computers to Government schools and built toilets at Board high school Perundurai and schools in Erode and Coimbatore district (Thadagam area). Scholarships and award to students of schools at Nallampatti and Perundurai since 1977. Many students are given free education and scholarships in his educational institutions. Helped to renovate temples especially for Dalit people in Nallampatti and Thadagam villages. Notable works were done in Anuvavi Subramanian temple and Maruthamalai Murugan Temple. He is recipient of many awards from medical, educational and community organization for his services. His mission is to serve the people of India in Health Care and Education on par with developed countries in the world.
Dr. Thavamani D Palaniswami is a Paediatrician and Adolescence Care Specialist. She did her M.B.B.S at Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai and AB Paediatrics in USA. She has 14 years of long service in the major hospitals in United States of America. Her valuable work experience in the medical institutions of USA has empowered her skills in managing various medical and technical institutions.
After assuming the position of Managing Trustee of Dr.N.G.P. Research and Educational Trust, she is sharing the responsibilities of the Chairman in carrying out objectives of the trust in establishing and running various educational institutions on par with the best in the western countries.
Her multi-dimensional approach makes the institutions excel in curricular and co-curricular aspects year by year. She believes that good education and discipline are the two inevitable factors in the development of the student's community.

Our college believes that every individual is important to be developed. Director – Academics Academic Council (AC) is the highest academic body of the institution. The Academic Council is responsible for academic matters such as framing of Academic Policy, approval of new Programmes, Regulation, Syllabi etc. The council approves the syllabi of various programmes submitted by the Board of Studies; provide guidelines for the conduct of the examinations. It proposes the regulations for teaching learning, assessment process, admission, discipline of students, academic collaborations, Industry linked programmes and other matters relating to academics. Agenda of the minutes discussed are placed in the Governing body for approval. The meeting of the Academic Council will be convened twice in an Academic Year.

The Standing Committee on Academic Affairs (SCAA) is responsible for reviewing Curriculum, Syllabus and academic regulations of different programmes offered at our college. The committee ensures that the academic issues, proposals, and policies of the institution are consistent with the academic mission, strategies, and priorities of University Grants Commission and the parent university. The syllabus framed is reviewed in SCAA meeting for credits, hour allotments, patterns, reference books, text books etc. and necessary suggestions to enrich the syllabi are given by also considering the recommendations received from stake holders. SCAA recommends the initiatives/activities discussed in the meeting to Academic Council for approval.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council is an organisation that assesses and accredits higher education Institutions in India. It is an autonomous body funded by University Grants Commission of Government of India. NAAC's mandate includes the task of performance evaluation, assessment and accreditation of universities and colleges in the country.
Assessment is a performance evaluation of an institution and /or its units and is accomplished through a process based on self-study and peer review using the measures such as Curricular Aspects, Teaching-Learning and Evaluation, Research, Innovations and Extension, Infrastructure and Learning Resources, Student Support and Progression, Governance, Leadership and Management and Institutional Values and Best Practices.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework is a methodology adopted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework was approved by the MHRD and launched by Minister of Human Resource Development in the year 2015.
There are separate rankings for different types of institutions depending on their areas of operation like universities and colleges, engineering institutions, management institutions, pharmacy institutions and architecture institutions. The Framework uses several parameters for ranking purposes like Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity and Perception.
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) was established in Dr. N.G.P. Arts and Science College with a insight to sustain equilibrium through Quality Sustenance and Enhancement by following the guidelines of NAAC. The principal aim of IQAC is to develop a system for deliberate, constant and catalytic improvement in the academic and administrative accomplishment of the institution.
To practice universal standards of excellence in all accomplishments comprising teaching, research, consultancy, and continuing education and to stay focused and support functions and in that way to hold ourselves accountable to stakeholders, through the constant processes of self-evaluation and continuous quality improvement.
