Overview

The Department of Costume Design & Fashion provides an excellent contemporary fashion education and was started in the year 2007. The course encourages individual creativity packed by a strong technical understanding. The course aims to equip the students with appropriate level of practical skills related to fashion. The students develop visual awareness, practical skills and knowledge in theory or design. The Department constantly monitors the current need of the industries and equips the students with the proficiency in latest technologies to race in the competitive job and business market. The Costume Design and Fashion Course trains the students to qualify with the skills required to meet the growing demand in the textile industry.

As a part of Curriculum Industrial visits to production Units, Special lectures, Industrial Internships, Trade Fairs, Workshops, Earn while learn, Hands on training, Fashion Shows, etc., are organized in the department. The course also includes practical knowledge like construction, dyeing, printing, fashion illustration, portfolio presentation, Computer Aided Designing, Accessory Designing, etc. The Students can excel in the field as an Entrepreneur, Fashion Designer, Merchandiser, Quality controller, supervisor, Color Matching Advisor, etc.

Programme educational objectives

The Curriculum is designed to attain the following learning goals which students shall accomplish by the time of their graduation:

  • To educate the students about textiles and garment industries
  • To train the students with technical knowledge in textiles/fashion designing and manufacturing processes
  • To enhance creativity in fashion designing and to develop entrepreneur skills
